NSW Department of Primary Industries Director General, Scott Hansen has welcomed sheep and lamb industry delegates to Albury, NSW for LambEx 2016 – the Australian industry’s premier event.

Mr Hansen said as major sponsor of LambEx 2016, NSW DPI recognises the value of bringing the industry together to share ideas and showcase the latest research and development to plan for the future.

“NSW DPI is strongly committed to the sheep and lamb industry, demonstrated in our innovation and research programs to support our industry to boost productivity and meet demand growth,” Mr Hansen said.

“Lamb is a remarkable success story of the Australian agriculture industry. A coordinated program of research, production and product development and marketing that commenced in the early 1990’s to boost domestic and export demand has paid great dividends,” he said.

“The lamb industry has focused on meeting its customers’ needs and driving improved production on-farm and along the supply chain, resulting in strong global demand and a reputation as a progressive industry,” he said.

LambEx 2016 Chair, Rodney Watt said the conference had attracted over 900 delegates from across Australia and internationally to Albury.

“There are delegates and exhibitors represented from all sectors of the lamb industry across Australia,” said Mr Watt.

“The program includes a showcase of the latest R&D that can be applied on-farm, the most recent advances in meat science and insights into our markets.

“We are delighted to hold LambEx 2016 in Albury as the location, facilities and community support have ensured a successful event.

“LambEx 2016 offers a thought-provoking and insightful look at the industry both in Australia and internationally over three information-packed days.

“Some of the highlights of LambEx 2016 include the pre-conference tours and the Young Guns Competition where some of the best up-and-coming talent in the sheep industry is showcased,” said Mr Watt.
