SA Grower of the Year supporting jobs and growth

Buckland Park greenhouse vegetable grower and packer Mr Henry Liu, Managing Director of P’Petual Holdings, has been awarded the AUSVEG SA Grower of the Year Award at the 2017 AUSVEG SA and William Buck Vegetable Industry Awards for Excellence on Wednesday 12 April 2017.

The 2017 Grower of the Year Award is proudly sponsored by Peats Soil, and recognises outstanding achievement across all aspects of vegetable and potato production, including growing, environmental management, staff management, and quality of produce.

The award was granted in recognition of Henry’s work in growing a modest greenhouse business into a high-tech glasshouse enterprise that is a leading producer of tomatoes in Adelaide’s north.

Henry has overseen significant growth in the business over the years and is currently planning an ambitious expansion of the business with international investment.

AUSVEG SA State Manager Jordan Brooke-Barnett congratulated Henry Liu on the award and said it recognised his industry-wide reputation for innovation, his exceptional stewardship of his business, and a willingness to invest for the future.

“Henry is an inspirational example of how a modern farm can grow into a high-tech operation and business through commitment, investment, and focus on serving the market with an exceptional product. He is an inspiration to other growers in the state, as well as to the broader community, at a time when South Australia is looking for business champions to lead an economic revival and provide jobs for the future,” said Mr Brooke-Barnett.
