Two Queensland prawn farms win medals at the prestigious 2018 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.
Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture took three Gold Medals and champion prawn exhibit while Pacific Reef Fisheries won two Silver and a Bronze.
The Sydney Royal Fine Food competition showcases Australian agricultural excellence, including aquaculture, with judges being the most experienced and respected judges in the industry.
For Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture, this is not the first time they have been champion.
“Historically” Executive Director of GCMA Mr Nick Moore advised “we entered prawns from our southern farm, however for the first time we entered prawns from our North Queensland farm and our staff can be justifiably proud of this brilliant achievement!”.
And its not the first time for Pacific Reef Fisheries either having won gold in 2017 as well as the champion prawn exhibit.
“The quality of the prawns produced by Australian farms is exceptional – we take great pride in benchmarking our product against the best of the best.” General Manager of Pacific Reef Fisheries, Mr John Moloney said.
“It’s an incredible honour to win these awards on the Australian stage and again highlights the dedication and passion by all our farmers to produce fantastic quality prawns for Australians”, Matt West, President of the Australian Prawn Farmers Association said.
He further added “this Easter there will be plenty of opportunities to snap up our superb Aussie prawns so why not accompany them with a wine or beer and you be the judge!”.
