The Australian slaughter lamb industry is posed for further growth, despite experiencing several years of widespread drought and increased costs, as profitability partially returned to the industry during 2007-08.
Australian live sheep exports increased during April, underpinned by large shipments to both Kuwait and Oman. Exports for the month totalled 436,162 head – the highest monthly total since November last year and well up on the record low 86,760 head shipped in April 2007.
